2018 Autumn “Vintage Membership” Newsletter


As we celebrate the arrival of the last bin of grapes at the winery today, it brings to an end a successful 2018 Vintage. Hot dry conditions prevailed throughout the growing season in all vineyards, resulting in slightly reduced yields, however excellent quality.

So with Vintage almost over it is now time to get out some new wines for you to enjoy this Autumn.

As you will be aware there have been some small changes to our wine club and it is now called the Vintage Membership. Whilst the name has changed, the essence has not. Our Vintage Membership gives you the opportunity to enjoy a wide selection of wines from our portfolio and we have stepped up our offering to make sure you continue to enjoy the best of the range delivered convenietly to your door.

The 2017 David Hook shiraz in your pack is the first 2017 red wine we have released. Many local winemakers are now talking about the 2017 red wines being comparable to the famed 2014 vintage. This wine is bright fresh elegant and already drinking exceptional well. The perfect wine to get you through the week, a taste of what to come in the 2017 Old Vines Shiraz.

The 2015 Central Ranges Pinot Noir comes from a vineyard with well drained red basalt and clay based loam soils located on the sheltered north slopes of Orange’s Mount Canobolas, at an elevation of 900m. It is made from a combination of three clones of Pinot Noir has charming fruit, lively and reminiscent of a good French Village burgundy.

We have included a little treat in this pack. This is the aged release 2014 Molly Morgan Barbera a small individual vineyard wine from the famed 2014 vintage. When I saw this fruit come into the winery I knew it would make a great wine and after a few years in the cellar, it is ready to be enjoyed. If you enjoy this wine don’t forget we still have available the 2011 Central Ranges Barbera for you to try as well.

The “Italians” complete the pack, from excellent grapes produced in almost perfect weather conditions of 2016 experienced in the Central Ranges. The 2016 Central Ranges Sangiovese has bright crisp cherry fruit and is a lively early drinking wine. 2016 Central Ranges Barbera slightly fuller with its ripper fruit characters and distinctive acidity. Finally, the 2016 Central Ranges Nebbiolo with its beautiful rose aromas and light tannins.

We have had some lovely rain in the last month, The Valley is looking green and beautiful and a little cooler. It’s a great time to visit the cellar, try or other new releases and pick up a selection for those winter evenings.
